Three minors, aged 15, 16 and 17 years old, are facing murder complaints after witnesses tagged them in the bloody killing of an 8-year-old boy last month.

The body of the 8-year-old boy was found inside a drainage canal in Magsaysay Street in Barangay 2, with both hands tied, fingers cut off, and incised wounds on the stomach, Malaybalay City police said.

The 15-year-old suspect denied his involvement in the murder, and is now under the custody of the City Social Welfare Development (CSWD), officials said.

The 16- and 17-year-old suspects remain at large, officials added.

The CSWD decided to let the 15-year-old suspect be placed under community-based custody where he can stay at home while being supervised by a barangay councilor who vouched to be his guardian, CSWD officer Virginia Flores said.
